For Obama
A letter I submitted to quite a few publishing companies right after the election. None of them published my letter.
Obama, you fought a hard campaign for the past couple of years, and yesterday, you won the presidency of the United States of America. Congratulations. You attracted many progressives who were very enthusiastic over your campaign since before the primaries even started. However, I did not trust your progressive stance due to your Senate voting record. Please prove me wrong when January 20th comes around. During your campaign, you promised America change, you promised us hope, so I am here to ask, will you put an immediate end to the war in Iraq come January? Can we count on you to put an end to the useless drug war that is costing us tax paying citizens billons of dollars a year? Will you repeal the patriot act and the military commissions act to restore the constitution and human rights? Will you make sure America spreads the word of freedom and peace throughout the world by using means other than military action? This is true change we can believe in. We will hold you to your word of promised change and hope. Until then, blow torch behind the rear end for the next four years!

I believe that Obama has already stated that he intends to keep our troops in Iraq until 2012 if the conditions on the ground, and our commanders think its the right thing to do.

Are you planning to protest in the streets, hang our troops in effigy, protest their funerals, and demand Obama's impeachment?
No. I don't think so. You were never so polite with Bush as you are with Obama.
Face it, you hate Bush and your "anti-war" position is all about Bush. You will stand by quietly as Obama continues to command our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan while they hunt down and kill the bad guys, and you will be quiet.

More like Regressive. All of the things being said/done/promoted by "Progressives" have been said/done/promoted before. Sometimes they succeeded in achieving their goals, only to see those policies fail.
You cannot declare unilateral peace. The bad guys call that surrender.
Hey, Rat_thinker, you are a joke. I have always taken a strong stand against the democratic and republican parties. Unlike you, I realize that there is no real difference between both parties. Bush/Clinton/Obama, same *!&^#%, different day. So go ahead and pout about the fact Bush only has a month left in office, even though you will be getting more of the same when Barak comes marching in!
