Local Student Receives Honors at State Grand Assembly
Jennifer Johnson of Granite Bay received a Grand Office appointment and a Rainbow scholarship at the annual Grand Assembly session of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls April 4-7 in Fresno.
Jennifer is the daughter of Doug and Joan Johnson of Granite Bay. She was appointed to the office of Grand Hope. Jennifer has been a member of Roseville DeRiemer Assembly since 9-21-03 and has held numerous offices including Worthy Advisor for three consecutive terms or one year. She has received several assembly honors and is a recipient of the Grand Cross of Color service award.
Jennifer is a third generation Rainbow Girl as well as a third generation Grand Officer. Her mother Joan served at Grand Treasurer in 1975 and her Grandmother Kathryn Lauppe served as Grand Representative to Indiana in 1945. Her younger sister, Sheralyn, is also a member of the Assembly.
Jennifer is a senior at Granite Bay High School and has plans to further her education at UC Irvine this fall majoring in Business Administration. She was announced as a recipient of a Rainbow Scholarship to further her educational goals. Jennifer loves high school and has been involved in Student Government since her Sophomore year. She was Junior Class Vice President, Homcoming Princess and is currently on the Student Government cabinet.
She is especially proud to have been appointed as Grand Hope as this office has a personal significance to her and her family as her mother is a breast cancer survivor. Jennifer recently sponsored a special “Pink” meeting for the local Rainbow Assembly to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research and has been a participant in the “Race for the Cure” and “Relay for Life” projects.
