Auburn Rainbow Girls Keeping Community Clean
The girls of Auburn’s New Hope Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls volunteered in this year’s Earth Day Spring Clean Up Program.
Each year Protect American River Canyons, PARC coordinates the efforts of California State Parks, CHP, Auburn-Placer Disposal, and volunteers for an Earth Day clean-up along the American River below the historical Foresthill Bridge.
This past weekend, the girls woke up early, put on their work gloves, grabbed their trash bags and gathered trash alongside the river that was eventually helicopter away in large nets. The girls found and gather trash such as shopping carts, cell phones, fire extinguishers, computer parts, bowling and basketballs and lots of glass. They enjoyed the work and river hike because they felt rewarded making progress cleaning the environment into the beautiful scenery we all value. It was all in the spirit of Earth Day, which gave the girls the opportunity to step out and do something to better their community around them.
Rainbow gets girls ready for life! It is a non-profit, character-building, service organization for girls between the ages 11-20. Girls gain self-confidence, self-respect and leadership skills while practicing reverence, patriotism, love and service.
Auburn’s New Hope Assembly meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 956 Lincoln Way. If you know a girl age 11-20 interested and would like more information about the International Order of Rainbow for Girls or the Auburn Assembly, contact Mother Advisor, Kristie Larson @ (916)797-6016 or visit the Rainbow website at www.gorainbow.org/.

Great job girls! It's wonderful to see teenagers committed to serving their community! And... as a hiker, I thank you!
It's good to see the Rainbow Girls still active and working for such a great cause. Their volunteerism and service to their communities is something that will serve them well. It is so nice to see that there are youth that really care about others. This is a wonderful group that teaches girls to become vibrant, caring and active young women in our communities.
Thank you New Hope Assembly for your hard work and dedication for such a worthy cause!! You are the greatest example of what Rainbow Girls was founded upon, SERVICE!!!
I am so happy to see Auburn Rainbow Girls in the news -- and reaching out -- and reminding everyone around us what an incredible organization the International Order of Rainbow Girls REALLY IS! GOOD JOB!!
