Credit Union Implements Sustainable Solutions
Yolo Federal Credit Union, with headquarters at 266 W. Main St. in Woodland, CA, has been certified as a Sustainable Business by the Sacramento Regional Sustainable Business Program. The credit union earned the certification by taking voluntary actions at all of their four locations in Davis, Woodland, and West Sacramento to conserve energy and reduce the amount of solid waste generated at their business. Sustainability actions include meeting with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to learn about available energy conservation programs, installing advanced electronic controls to efficiently maintain office temperatures, upgrading to an energy efficient lighting system, and instituting a recycling program for used paper, toner, and printer cartridges.
The Sustainable Business Program, operated by the Business Environmental Resource Center at McClellan, California, is a free service available to all Sacramento region businesses and organizations. It encourages businesses to conserve resources, prevent pollution, implement green building practices, use energy efficiently, and reduce water consumption.
There is no cost to participate in The Sustainable Business Program. It is made possible through the sponsorship of the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (SRCSD), Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), the Regional Water Authority, the Water Forum, and the Business Environmental Resource Center (BERC).
Over 150 businesses and organizations in the Sacramento Watershed are currently participating in this voluntary effort to improve the quality of our environment. For more information call 916-649-0225 or visit the website at www.Sacramento-Sustainable-Business.org
