Star Light Star Bright
Bring your questions! Learn about the basics of astronomy, the earth, moon, planets and stars from a world-renowned comet hunter! You will also get to practise your new skills by searching the night sky using a telescope! Basics are given on how to use a telescope and binoculars. (For a more advanced instruction we suggest the Telescope Class - or better yet, attend both!)
Colfax astronomer, Don Machholz, author and comet-hunter, will weave tales of the galaxies and explore the night sky with his telescopes. Don has discovered ten comets; his last recorded find in August of 2004 was named Comet Machholz (Comet 2004 Q2). Don carries a passion for the heavens that is passed on through his presentations.
Each Star class varies as to what heavenly bodies you will see! Admission is $6 per person, proceeds support environmental education programming at Placer Nature Center. Will be canceled if raining or heavy clouds.
What to Bring to the Class: - Telescope* (*if you have one! There will be loaners available) - Warm coat - Flash light
Date: Saturday, Nov. 21, 5-7 pm
