The new reality show, "The Sing Off" showcases a cappella music. A cappella is alive and well in Auburn! Sierra Gold Chorus, the Auburn chapter of Sweet Adelines International, sang four-part harmony a cappella style, as they performed to over 600 fans at the Annual Christmas Shows in Grass Valley and Auburn earlier this month. Sierra Gold Chorus, under the direction of Barb Tincher, enjoyed singing a variety of a cappella style songs, from ABBA, the Beatles and traditional Christmas carols. The shows also included quartets and a double quartet, all singing four-part harmony - a cappella style.

Teenagers, housewives, and career women who enjoy singing are invited to attend the chorus' weekly rehearsal each Monday, at 7:00 PM, at Burback Hall, DeWitt Center, 11577 E Avenue, Auburn. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus' musical leaders and director. The Sierra Gold Chorus was formed in 1993 by a group of women who loved to sing and wanted to perform in the community. The chorus affiliated with Sweet Adelines International in 1995.
