Yarr... Me Booty!
While the Season doesn't bring the plethora of gifts my way as it did when I was a child, I still received some notable presents: A headlamp - for reading when I'm camping. (Yes, I go to bed early when I camp. I don't drink... what else am I supposed to do?) Anne Rice "The Road To Cana" - Book The Book of Genesis Illustrated by R. Crumb - Again... book Cd's - Devotchka "How it ends" and Hank Williams Sr. "Gospel Keepsakes" (I'm listening to Hank right now, 'When I get to Glory I'm gonna sing, sing, sing') A t-shirt Underwear (no, for some reason the underwear doesn't match the t-shirt. I guess I'll be expected to wear pants) Money What did some of you guys get?

I got a Crock-Pot Trio, a 6.5 qt enameled cast iron dutch oven, and a box grater. I think my husband likes me in the kitchen! Lucky for him and me, I like being in the kitchen!
Lol!... I hope so.
Thanks for the fun post, BB. I was just remembering how, as kids, we would call one another on the phone with "whajja get?".
running socks and see's dark chocolate with almonds. a little yin and yang there, i think. also a really nice clock radio with a port for my ipod. my husband is so good to me. (the best gift of all is that he did all the christmas shopping, so that i could sing instead of shop!) i am one lucky woman.

R. Crumb's 'Genesis' is great, isn't it?
Imagine my surprise when I opened my "Amazon Kindle". I didn't know what it was until my daughter explained the thing.
Wow!
The first book I down loaded was "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn".
This is probably the coolest, most useful gift I've ever received since I got my walkie-talkie set at age ten! :-)))
Joszef,
I want to go to Maria's Tacos with you......
.....Oh yea..........Huck Finn was only $0.25 to download so I then purchased "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" for $1.
Birch,
No need to describe the undies - my imagination has already run amok and I won't be sleeping for a week. I got an extended amount of time with my kids - nothing better. 364 to go!

I'm retired Navy having enlisted in late 1977. When I enliisted sailors were issued the new style dress blues - a double-breasted coat and what we called a "combination cover" - the familiar peaked cap with a bill similar to that worn by CPOs and officers. A couple of years later the Navy dumped the double-breasted coat and brought back the Cracker Jacks with the famous "Dixie Cup" hat. What a sharp uniform!
For Christmas my brother-in-law and his landlord made a ceramic statue of a sailor with a seabag standing on the edge of a dock. She actually cast the statue and did the painting; he sanded the casting and did the packing and wrapping.
The sailor is staring off into the distance as if he is looking to sea having either just returned or, more likely, waiting to go down with the sea on a ship. He is wearing a Dixie Cup, pea coat and the light blue work shirt and bell-bottom working denim pants that sailors have worn for generations.
The details were amazing. The sea bag is actually textured so that it feels like cloth. The colors shade to dark in the folds of the clothes. The collar of the pea coat is flipped up in back to keep the neck warm. His skin looks real. The pea coat, shirt and bell bottoms are exactly the right colors. My borther-in-law said his landlord has won many awards at fairs and shows.
What a wonderful Christmas present!
Miuwtant - Good to hear from you again. What a wonderful Christmas present.
bcapp1 - You got an extended amount of time with your kids. That's great. A Christmas gift from Warden Jacquez?

Nope, my kids are not in Pelican Bay - yours?

That reminds me, Bob... I'm in Napa right now (at my sisters), my daughter flew in to SFO last night. That , for me too, is the best gift this year.
My best gift is not near as nice as what some of you have been given. But I did get a newly rebuilt transmission and transfer case for my 43 Ford jeep!!!!!!!!!!!! Soon the 'Lucky 7th' will be back on the road...... :)
chase,
Are you kidding?!? If I had a 43 Ford Jeep I would LOVE to have a newly rebuilt transmission and transfer case! What ELSE would I want?!??? ;-)
Next thing we know you'll want a winch for the front bumper! Valentines Day is coming and maybe your honey will do you right!
A day with my grand children and some other non-essential stuff.
Books, CD's and a really neat desk lamp that gets it power from the USB port on my computer.
Greg
You have to let us know how that Kindle works out. I thought about one for the wife but wasn't sure how easy they are to use etc.
Chase
A step closer to getting that jeep back in motion sounds pretty cool to me.
Chase, now you get to do the dirty work on your GPW. Time to get it "on the road again", keep the rubber side on the ground.
CA04_Voter,
It's great! Using one is really easy. Most new books cost around $10 and they say it will hold 1,500 books! If you lose your Kindle you can still get your books back by logging on and they're also stored on a web based storage.
There is also a "Kindle" app that you can download for free onto an iPhone, or an iPod Touch that will allow you to retrieve any books you have on your Kindle.
You can read your books from your small device and once you're finished and back to your Kindle, the app will sync the two devices and you'll be able to resume reading where you left off on either machine.
These babies are really slick!
Fourgen: GPW, sounds like you know about these old things.
GregG: Sorry no winch on the front, just leavin it as she would have been in WWII... JI ready as they would have been delivered to the field units.
Greg
Glad to hear that it is working for you.
