Two-faced Meg

After a primary campaign against Steve Poizner that featured plenty of anti-immigration tough-talk, bigot pandering, and downright shameless demagoguery on Mexican immigration issues, Meg Whitman is trying to sing a different immigration tune - en Español.

Recognizing the huge importance of the Latino vote in California's general election (Whiteman needs at least 30 percent of Latinos to win), Whitman's advisers told her to "move away from immigration to broaden her appeal.” Comprising over 21% of the electorate in 2008, the raw power of California's Latino voters is critical to any election. And Whitman’s positioning among Latinos is... well, it's not so good.

As Republican strategist Allan Hoffenblum recently said of the way Latinos perceive the GOP on immigration: “This issue is killing the Republican Party.”

Hoffenblum added, “This is bringing back all the fears that the Republican Party is the white man’s party.”

As a band-aid, Whitman has released two expensive, slick Spanish-language ads targeting Latino voters for the warm-and-fuzzy treatment. One ad highlights Whitman's opposition to the controversial Arizona law. It also announces that Whitman opposed Proposition 187, the California ballot measure that would have denied taxpayer-funded services to illegal immigrants. The other ad focuses on jobs for Latinos.

Whitman's reference to Proposition 187 is especially hypocritical, because Whitman hired former Gov. Pete Wilson to manage her gubernatorial campaign. Wilson's persona was used to silently validate Whitman’s “tougher than you on immigration” stance in the GOP primary.

But her most recent statements in the Spanish language ads are in sharp contrast to her Mexican-bashing primary message.

Although Whitman earlier expressed her opposition to Arizona's SB1070 law, she was careful to announce her opposition to the law was because she had a tougher plan in mind than Arizona's draconian law.

During her Republican primary against Poizner, Whitman talked plenty tough: “Let me be very clear: I am 100 percent against amnesty, no exceptions... My view is until we actually do secure the border and actually stop illegal immigration, we can't talk about any other solutions and I am 100 percent against amnesty."

It remains to be seen whether Whitman will adjust her English-language vitriol on immigration, or whether voters will be faced with "Meg Whitman vs. Meg Whitman: Which Version Should We Believe?" on election day.

I have too much respect for people to produce an ugly photoshop picture of Jerry Brown. They just don't get as nasty as you TP. Ever wonder why people find you vulgar?

Let me guess, you avoid looking in the mirror, lest you see your true reflection....

TP, you didn't seem interested in former Pres. Clinton in his eulogy of a KKK member's political expediencies, used to get elected. I know the left does no wrong in your warped despicable mind set. Both parties or those that are either left are right can be and have been and still are charlatans. Bush was awful, has been called to task and I'll bet Obama will get a little of the same, come November.

We'll see.

How about Meg Whitman trying to pander to Latino voters? Shameless.

Timeslip: Lighten up will ya? Every political candidate from John Adams to the present has been the subject of caricature.

slimetip - No, you have too little talent to produce an ugly photoshop picture of Jerry Brown. ;-]

ThosPayne, I agree that it is shameless. But tell me, why do you support Jerry Brown. Because you think he's pretty?

PALIN / QUAYLE 2012: Because Stupid isn't just an insult anymore!

TP, watch out Brown is a believer. You really believe the crude and repulsive clips you chop and paste show talent? Think again you repugnant, miniscule piece of humanity.

Some have the ability to paint the most beautiful picture, to make the most beautiful music, to bring the most beautiful smile with kind words to those who matter. What talents do you have, TP? Cut and paste, and distorted, ugly photoshops. No humor, nor warmth, and certainly no joy. Alinsky lives heavy in your dark heart, TP.

No empathy is possible. Yes, my heart has no such talent. Sorry, gulliver, this is not your typical caricature, it is a flood of gross and ugly distortions, from one sick puppy.

timeslip, your 11:32pm comment is right on.

gulliver, TP's continual lame photoshop displays are as disgusting as the twisted garbage he tries to sell around here.

Keep it coming, TP. Everyone can see you for who you are..... I guess it's hard to have an accurate view of anything if you lay around in the gutter all day.

The only thing offensive about the substance of TP's posts is that they tell the truth. Those of you who launch personal attacks at TP only demonstrate your inability to deal with the truth. It must be rough to live in a perpetual state of denial.

I really don’t see what the big deal is; she is a politician who needs votes and is going which ever way the winds of change blows to get the votes. I may be jaded but I have learned conviction is not a common virtue among elected officials. Just another administrator acting like an administrator.

TP, Wow, some people just can't take a joke! That's a funny photo.

I am glad that I stopped mimicking TP to demonstrate how vulgar he is. I feel cleaner, and he just keeps getting filthier.

Now the only question is when the Democrat Central Committee members who post regularly on this blog site (you all know who you are) will tell him to stop?

They will do it offline at one of their regular meetings eventually.

G_P, your last ugly blog was posted on July 2.

It takes at least two full weeks to break a habit. Don't start patting yourself on the back. yet.

Besides, your comments on other blogs indicate you've made no change of heart. You still think you walk on water and have all the answers You are totally blind to your own shortcomings. That, in essence, is your biggest problem. This comment on your child-rearing style pretty much says it all:

As a father of three, I watched my children graduate and thank their mom. It did not concern me because she was there for them whenever they needed it.

As they grew older, I found they would come to me more often because they were not dealing with emotional issues of high school any more, but instead were dealing with life issues that required someone with a straight-forward approach. Mom could also help them in such things, but dad was more effective at solving such problems.

Its not really important which parent a kid thanks, but that they know both parents are there for them to give them the nurturing or the strength they need.

OK TP, we won't call you stupid any more. Just a no life, bored man that likes to raise hackles.

It appears that if Whitman & Brewer teamed up to star in a horror movie, it would stand a good chance of becoming a cult favorite.

gulliver you are the one in denial and I question your intellect if you embrace TP's offerings of lies & distortions of truth. I guess you embrace it when TP demeans people by using disabilities like Alzheimers' & Autism to make insults. If you want to embrace that, your choice. It disgusts me.

BTW, it's not just a charicature, it's also some ugly vile demon looking distortion. It must be a scary place to be where he is.

Miuwtant, where's your slam against TP using vie insults? As for GP's post that you reposted pointing out his "problem", what's the issue?

That he believes both parents provide different things to their parents??

I don't see anything wrong with GP's comment about fatherhood, either. What horrible thing did he say?

I looked through Jerry Brown's website to see what his policies are, and it mentions almost nothing. I suspect it's because he knows that any real solutions will anger the unions and special interest groups that support him. I'm guessing that that's also why his supporters have nothing good to say about Jerry Brown, and they have to resort to photoshopping pictures and digging up dirt on Whitman as their only tactics.

Whats wrong with GP's child rearin? He likes to keep the little woman barefoot and pregnant she's good at raisin them young'uns whens they get older he can teach them to shoot squirrels and post blogs about them thar colored folks ruining this country.

The problem is GP did no child rearin. Luckily the children had their mother as he didn't come into the picture until after they were grown despite admitting one or more kids had issues they dealt with in high school. Sad really. With all due respect, it would probably help your comprehension if you read the posts a few times before responding, thanks.

loomisresident - Thank you. That's much better.

Does this mean we're still friends?

keepingupdated - "Scary?" Heavens, no. How is that possible when politics is so entertaining? Truth is sometimes so surreal I can barely believe it, but in the end there it is, standing naked for all to see. "Lies & distortions" are completely out of the question. Truth is so much more entertaining that mere falsehoods, don't you agree?

Alfresco, GP states that what's really important is that they "know both parents are there for them to give them the nurturing or the strength they need". I don't see how that means that he didn't come into the picture until after graduation. It tells me that he felt his wife played a more important role when it comes to nurturing and his kids were closer to their mother early on as a result, and that he played a more important role in developing strength and life skills, which is common among most sets of parents... even among (gasp!) democrats. Is this the part where I'm supposed to insult your comprehension skills as part of a witty comeback, followed by a sarcastic phrase like "with all due respect"?

He's gonna break his arm twisting it behind his back patting himself like that! You salivating over his arrogance is funny as hell

Now read his post again...very slowly this time.

"As a father of three, I watched my children graduate and thank their mom. It did not concern me because she was there for them whenever they needed it. As they grew older, I found they would come to me more often because they were not dealing with emotional issues of high school any more, but instead were dealing with life issues that required someone with a straight-forward approach. Mom could also help them in such things, but dad was more effective at solving such problems."

Putting down his wife by saying he uses a "straighforward approach" and is "more effective" than she is at "life issues" is a deluded little man. What does she do, beat around the bush? gimmie a break LOL

Discounting his kids issues in high school as "emotional" while suddenly giving their issues validity in Adulthood labeling them "life issues" is a crock. Parents need to be parents. Putting down our families on public message boards is shameful. Absentee fathers unite!

alfresco, and you can read all this into that posting because what, you're omnipotent? Give me a break alright. It's all skewed in your mind because you've decided to hate the man so much.

Actually, as a mom, I know first hand that my son prefers to go to my husband with things especially if it doesn't involved food, or clean clothing. Dad's a softer touch and all my kids can manipulate him better than me. But that's all good because I think he's a little better in knowing which battles to fight and which ones really don't matter in the long run.

Read something into that now will you, oh, omnipotent one?

keepingupdated, that sounds like me and my wife. We both certainly have our weaknesses and we both have our strengths, but it works out great because we compliment each other. Anybody who takes that as an insult is simply looking for insults.

TP, you don't seem to learn. It's not the Latino vote, it's the Mexican vote. Latinos is just a politically correct way to lump all minor populations with the dominant Mexicans.
